Still Waiting

"Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage" Psalm 27:14

Its certainly not kayaking season yet!

Spring is starting to let its presence be known here in the valley. The sun has been coming out for us and for people like me, having a sunny day changes my whole attitude. I love the sun. Winters can be so dreary here and when we have sunny days I feel the sun in my soul. It encourages me. I had been waiting to feel its warmth on my face! And now, in mid-February, its finally gaining some warmth. The temps rise above freezing, the snow is melting and believe it or not, rumors of crocuses in bloom are being whispered here & there.

And so, another sunny and somewhat warm day, I took myself down to the lake. I was greeted with this huge ice shelf full of cracks & caverns. On the side of the lake where the wind blows the most it pushes the ice up onto the shore to make amazing formations!

I got up close & took some photos, hearing the ice cracking, breaking & dripping all around me. I stomped the softer ice to encourage it to break & melt sooner. I threw rocks out a little further to see how strong it was...still pretty strong.

And so, we are still waiting for the warmth, the thaw and the sign of green things. But I am thankful for sunny days to encourage & warm my soul. I'm thankful that the ice can hold some wonder for me while I wait for it to melt away.

"...and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14

  1. Ahhh yes... you are like a little buttercup, my friend. I notice every time we go out and its sunny your smile is equal. I'm glad you got OUTSIDE! Have you heard the lake groaning lately? I hope it makes its complaints when you come for a visit!

    :) Mrs. Barb

  2. Hey Beckie.... it was good to see you "posting" again.

Nice pictures - I can feel the cold (like a mother in laws heart) kidding about the mother in law - I love Judi's mother in law.

I like Psalm 27 too. I so appreciate verse 13 I would of fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

  3. You 'll think I 'm crazy, but to me the cracked ice looks like butter.Homemade butter

  4. What unique ice formations. That's amazing that the wind will do that to the ice. I haven't seen that before. Thank you for a glimpse into your beautiful country. I too can't wait for kayaking again!

I just read in Ezekiel the other day something very interesting. In chapter 34:12 God says, "... I will seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a CLOUDY AND DARK DAY."

He's the Lord of the sunshine and the Lord of the cloudy days. Praise Him!

  5. Your "homeland" sounds like the Chronicles of Narnia. How exciting that the season is shifting, and new life is trying to push through (in more ways than one!)

How exciting to be able to feel the life move within you! Take care, and I'm glad that the hope of Spring is bringing you cheer.

  6. Warm enough to walk by the water (!!) I am afraid that today was the nastiest day here so ws so cold and windy....spring??? that is a foreign concept. I am going to have to go to the tanning salon to get my dose of "warm"!

  7. I am so glad you shared this today....the ice looks so cold and sharp and in stark contrast to where I live here in So was 61 today and will be a nippy 45 tonight....brrrr

How are you feeling...and the baby
    I am excited for you

  8. I'm waiting.... I am just too impatient for this one though!.. I want winter over NOW! :-)

  9. Thinking about you. Wondering how you are doing. (I lost your email)

    Love and prayers,
