"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." 2 Corinthians 4:16
With the season of fall being in full force, people tend to look at it as the death of the year. Skies are gloomier, colder, darker. Trees & plants are losing their leaves. And soon it will be winter!
Though the leaves turning color are beautiful, it feels as though the tree has died once more for the year. But what is going on behind the scenes. The tree is storing up its nutrients & renewing its energy to get even stronger & bigger for next spring where it will burst forth even more dramatic than the spring before!
And so it should be within our souls. Like the falling of the autumn leaves, so should we be dropping off our sins, our bad habits, our angry attitudes, our gloom & despair. By letting the old perish, there is room for so much more good. Renewal! Out with the old, in with the new! In with Jesus!
Becky,
ReplyDeleteWow your post really spoke to me. I have a lot going on right now. I have decided to stop blogging. It is hard for me to write right now. I am so glad to have met you. Your writing is just beautiful! And your heart for the Lord is awesome to see. I will keep in touch through email with you. God Bless you!!!
Janice
Here the cooler weather of renewal and freshness is approaching after the summer heat and dryness.Looking up to the Lord to water our minds bodies and souls.
ReplyDeleteMust be the changing season that has spurred thoughts on renewal...or, more probably, it is from the Holy Spirit! I just posted last week about the challenge (conviction) for renewal.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post!
Diane
Ahhh - thanks for the reminder, my friend... to focus on the UNSEEN!
ReplyDeleteIf we rely on what we see only with our eyes, and live our lives based only on that, then we are missing the point.
You and I are so alike - the other day I was marveling at seeds. Imagine, in these sometimes small, tiny tiny tiny small things, there is life. There is a rebirth. So are our seeds of hope. We should trust in our seeds of faith, and they will spring forth with goodness when our God appoints a SEASON specially for us!
Lets DO get together, soon. I'm emailing you bout it right away!
with love,
Barb
Hey Beck, caught a second wind here, (have been practicing music with my hubby for a Christian coffee house we're playing at Sat - our first - yikes!) Anyhow, here I am, checking on my blogging friends before I hit the hay.
ReplyDeleteI like this post... Renewal. God demonstrates his ways through his creation. It's so awesome, isn't it? May we each keep on renewing our hearts and minds through God's precious Word. I need it so much...
This is a wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a nice day!
P.S. Beck, awesome photo, I forgot to include that... the blues are so vivid and a direct contrast to the ground.
ReplyDeleteAmen and thank you! Why do we find it so difficult to drop our leaves (sins) and use the bare time to draw near to Jesus. Great post; we all need to take a lesson from the trees.
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Amen! You never know what's going on under the surface!
ReplyDeleteCasting off the old ... Can be difficult at times but you are so right. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteDave
I love the word picture you painted of dropping off our sins and old ways, just as the autumn leaves fall.
ReplyDeleteInspiring post.
Now when I look at the leaves scattered on the ground, I will always think of that.
I love the picture too!
Thanks for this inspiring post, Becky. Good thoughts, as usual.
ReplyDeleteI came over to tell you to check my blog or at the Persecution Blog if you'd like to get a banner for the Int'l Day of Pray for the Persecuted Church.
It is so good to be reminded that nature provides us with a good reminder and a wonderful mirror for life. The older I get the more I appreciate this fact.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this....rid myself of the old to make room for the new....thanks
ReplyDeleteBecky,
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you. I am not going to stop blogging after all. I prayed about it. I am just going through a really difficult time right now.

ReplyDeleteJust letting you know I'm thinking of you, and hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteFall used to be one of my favorite times of the year as a girl. Then my dad passed away in November- it has been nearly 17 years now, but fall never regained its place in my heart, as with the loss their is still an association with fall.
ReplyDeleteI like what you said about it being about our souls or within our souls- something to think about. Maybe God will restore my love for fall??
