God's Weather

Ice on the Similkameen River

"...cold from the scattering winds of the north. By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen. " Job 37:9-10

Studying weather & seasons is fascinating. I'm constantly referring the weather websites to see what's going on in my region & across the country. I'm sure I get this fascination from my Dad. He's always loved weather & weather patterns. Living in southern BC, we are fortunate to get a wide range of all types of weather throughout our seasons. We've been having quite a cold spell again here in the Okanagan so I thought I would look up to see what the Bible has to say about ICE. And I made a fantastic discovery.

Today, I discovered an entire section of the Bible dedicated to weather. Though I have read the book of Job before, I did not recall this detailed & awe-inspiring section all about weather, created & maintained by God. And so, from the second half of chapter 36, and all of verse 37...I share with you God's Weather!

Clouds above Vernon, BC

"Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds. And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands the on the face of the whole earth." Job 37: 11-12

Mist & clouds surround a farm

"For He draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man. Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds, the thunder from His canopy?" Job 36: 27-29

Clouds & mist in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

"Even now men cannot look at the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them." Job 37:21

"He does great things which we cannot comprehend. For He says to the snow, "Be on the earth"; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength." Job 37:5-6

Sunset on the Zambezi River, Zambia

"Remember to magnify His work, of which men have sung. Everyone has seen it; Man looks on it from afar." Job 36:24-25

  1. Your powerful entry is resounding in my head like thunder ... you have given me a thirst to revisit Job! I've found the bible is like people painting. 10 people can paint the same subject and all will be different - 10 people can read the bible and each will read something different. I'm so glad you shared with us! God Bless, sweet friend!

  2. You have a talent Becky ... putting your photos to scripture... I am glad you are putting it to good use. Concerning the cycle of evaporation to rain ... In the Bible well before scientists recognized this fact...Amazing!

  3. Once again, agree with Dave, especially about how the bible has so accurately described the weather and the water cycle long before it was understood by scientists. Again great photos - very inspirational.
