Goal for May: Proverbs

I have a goal for May. I meant to do it in March but suddenly I remembered a couple days into the month. My goal for May is to find one truth from Proverbs every day of the month. The reason I choose May is because it has 31 days and Proverbs has 31 chapters. So I choose to find something important from one chapter every day that I can share, even just one verse that stands out.

When we were younger, my mom encouraged us to read Proverbs monthly and follow the calendar days. I liked the months that ended at 30 days because I could skip that "Virtuous Woman" chapter that always gave me guilt. I still may not be as virtuous as Proverbs 31 but I do believe I can learn more from it now then when I was much younger!

So please join me tomorrow when I start with Proverbs 1!

  1. Hi Becky~

Thank you for coming to Yahweh's Retreat. I appreciate your comments so much.

We read a Proverb a day at breakfast and do just that. We pick one thing to focus on for the day. I am writing them down now, making a list so that 1-we don't pick the same one again and again and 2~so we can review when needed.

I know how you feel about the 31st.....I tried to avoid her in the past too. :-)

  2. Great idea Beck. Last year I began having my teenager read to me (they're never too old to read aloud) a few verses from Proverbs before he leaves for school in the morning. I've found it's a great way to connect with him and then pray for him. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..."

A friend of mine and I went to Cuba last December. She introduced me to a prayer that I have attached myself to. I try to read it every day with my daughter. I feel lighter after reading it, but I still feel like something is missing. Perhaps I will read along with you this month and see if His word can fill in the missing blanks for me.
